Beast of Reincarnation Blade Arts and Entanglement
How Emma’s entanglement gauge powers Blade Arts, Nushi skills, guarding, and Overdrive alongside Koo’s FP loop.
Beast of Reincarnation runs two combat resources at once. Florescence Points fuel Koo’s Bloom Arts. The entanglement gauge fuels Emma’s defense, Blade Arts, Nushi skills, and Entanglement Overdrive. Players who only learn Just Guard for FP still stall on mid-game fights when the entanglement bar empties. This guide explains the second meter so Emma’s katana kit keeps pace with Koo’s command menu across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Steam, and Game Pass.
If you are brand new, skim How to Play first, then return here before your first dense elite pack. Pair this page with How to Parry because successful Just Guards refill both FP and entanglement.
What the Entanglement Gauge Does
The entanglement bar sits at the bottom of the HUD. It is not the same resource as Florescence Points. You spend chunks of entanglement to:
- Hold a standard guard when a Just Guard window is missed
- Finish Blade Art combo sequences
- Activate Nushi skills unlocked through story bosses
- Trigger Entanglement Overdrive for a short slow-time window
Successful Just Guards restore entanglement while also granting FP. A clean parry therefore feeds both Emma and Koo. Holding block early burns entanglement without FP rewards and leaves you fragile once the bar is empty—guards no longer absorb damage safely when the gauge is drained.
Emma recovers the first entanglement chunk automatically over time even without parries, but that trickle is not enough for Blade Art spam. Treat Just Guard as your primary refill engine.
Blade Arts Versus Bloom Arts
Blade Arts belong to Emma. They are melee combo strings you execute in real time, not the slowed command menu used for Koo. Open the equipment menu and choose view skills on Emma’s page to see input patterns. Early options such as short Shakuyaku or Climbing Higanbana strings teach the idea: press the listed attack sequence, then pay one entanglement chunk when the finisher lands.
Only Blade Arts upgrade through Emma’s skill tree with respec support. Nushi skills unlock as you defeat great beasts and story gates; they behave like special combos but follow different progression rules. Check Skill Trees when you plan SP spending, and Bosses for which Nushi rewards matter first.
Bloom Arts remain Koo’s domain. They cost FP, open through the command menu, and slow time. Do not confuse the two systems: emptying entanglement does not stop Bloom Arts, and emptying FP does not stop Blade Arts. High-level play spends both meters on purpose—parry to refill, Blade Art to pressure, Bloom Art to control, Lethal when the Down Gauge breaks. See How to Command Koo for the FP half of the loop.
Reading Combo Costs Before You Commit
Every Blade Art lists an entanglement cost tied to the final button. If the bar shows only one chunk left, save it for a panic guard or a guaranteed stagger finisher rather than a flashy opener. During Nushi phases, map two or three Blade Arts you can execute under pressure and ignore the rest until muscle memory sticks.
Practice in Story mode if the timing feels harsh, then move to Normal once you can finish a string without draining the entire gauge. Hard mode enemies punish long recovery windows, so shorter Blade Arts often outperform greedy multi-hit showcases.
Entanglement Overdrive
When the entanglement gauge is full, hold the Overdrive inputs (Shift + middle mouse on PC, or both sticks on controller) to enter Entanglement Overdrive. Overdrive does not fire a cinematic ultra. It briefly slows time so you can dodge a red-flash attack, heal, or set up a Blade Art without eating a full combo.
Overdrive depletes the bar. Waste it as a panic button every fight and you lose Blade Art access for the next wave. Save Overdrive for:
- Unblockable red telegraphs that demand a perfect dodge
- Emergency stimpack windows mid-combo
- Repositioning when Koo’s Bloom Art menu is already on cooldown between identical Arts
Platform bindings live on Controls, PS5, and Xbox.
Elemental Synergy With Blade Arts
Emma’s weapons and Blade Arts can carry poison, acid, flame, or lightning buildup. Matching Emma’s element to Koo’s Bloom Art mods accelerates status procs and stagger. When the Bloom Arts menu highlights “weak” over an option, prioritize that Art and the Blade Art that shares the same element. Spirit Stones and Koo Charms further tilt elemental focus.
Guard, Riposte, and Red Attacks
Miss a Just Guard and you may still block, but entanglement drains. After a true parry, press attack for a riposte. Red-flash attacks cannot be guarded or parried—dodge instead, then counter. Overdrive helps you see those red flashes when the arena is crowded.
Build and Progression Tips
Strength raises Blade Art damage. Florescence still matters because Koo support keeps you alive between entanglement spends. Vitality buys mistakes while you learn costly strings. Camp at Bauera or stage camps to unlock Blade Art mods and respec plans—details in Healing and Camps and Builds.

Common Mistakes
Treating Blade Arts like free cooldowns leads to empty entanglement and broken guards. Ignoring Overdrive entirely wastes a clutch tool. Spamming the same Bloom Art twice fails—Koo needs a different Art between repeats—but Blade Arts follow combo rules, not that Bloom restriction. Keep the systems mentally separate.
Beast of Reincarnation rewards players who manage both meters. Master entanglement and Emma stops feeling underpowered next to Koo’s flashy menu.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is entanglement the same as Florescence Points?
No. Entanglement powers Emma’s guard, Blade Arts, Nushi skills, and Overdrive. Florescence Points power Koo’s Bloom Arts. Just Guard refills both.
What does Entanglement Overdrive do?
It briefly slows time when the entanglement bar is full. It is not a special attack; use it to dodge, heal, or set up safely, then expect the bar to drain.
Can I upgrade Blade Arts?
Yes. Blade Arts upgrade through Emma’s skill tree and can be respecced. Nushi skills unlock through story bosses and follow separate progression.
Why did my guard stop blocking?
When the entanglement gauge is empty, holding guard no longer reliably absorbs damage. Parry to refill or retreat until the first chunk regenerates.
Which guide should I read with this one?
Pair it with How to Parry for refill timing and How to Command Koo for the FP side of combat. Controls pages list Overdrive bindings per platform.
